As of yesterday (6/8/2017) a lawsuit started by Dish Network has shut most of add-ons within Kodi. Others haven't been working properly since this started. So please keep what you have, DO NOT reinstall anything to ensure your add-ons work as long as they can.

Step by step tutorial on how to install Kodi 17.1 , a build, and addons.

You can find the latest Amazon Firestick here:

TIPS & OTHER INFOMATION:

Make sure you uninstall the previous version before starting another installation. Also removing the extra downloaded files from ES could help. To uninstall and removed everything to ensure your new installation will work, from the homepage of the Firestick highlight the app, press the option button, then uninstall. Another way is to go to Settings, Applications, Manage Installed Applications, Select the app and uninstall. When uninstalling the last version make sure you leave "Don't delete media files" unchecked. To remove the extra downloaded files go to the ES Explorer app and go to Download under the Favorite option (You mayhave to select Favorite for the options to drop down), then highlight and press and hold the extra downloaded files to delete it. It maybe hard to highlight at first but it's possible.

To remove the bubble on the right go to ES Explorer, settings, then "Logger floating widget settings", uncheck "enable logger floating widget" and there ya go!

To adjust the screen within Kodi: Go to the settings icon, Interface settings, Skins, then adjust the Zoom

For Subtitles: From the homepage of Kodi go to
Settings
Player Settings
Language
select "Default TV show service" and "movie service"
Get More on both
find and select Subscene.com on both (best I've found)
select and play a stream
press the option button
select the subtitle icon
select download
Subscene.com then just choose which one you prefer

Please keep in mind the Kodi site will update so what you see in this video will change over time.

If you like to change the skins/theme of Kodi 17 go to Settings, Interface, Skins, select Skins then Get more, pick a skin you prefer, once you select one let is download and install, If it doesn't add automatically just go back and select it. WARNING, this may change the layout completely so you will have to get use to it.

Sometimes the streams are unavailable for a moment. It's normal for freshly added movies. It's rare for everything else. You can also try exiting out of Kodi every now and then so it will refresh itself. You do this by using the exit option on the homepage of Kodi.

  1. The absolute best tutorial out on how to install 17.1 or 17.0 on your amazon fire stick. I have installed Kodi on 3 firesticks from this video! You are amazing! Thank you!!!

    • I try my best for you and everyone esle. But you do have a point Ms.N, so if I have time I will make another video tonight. I can see how the title and everything can be confusing to a new user.

    • I downloaded using your video and it was great! we added a bunch of movies and our favorite shows to our favorites list but now all we can see is those shows in our favorites and if we go to “movies” “in theatres” etc. it only shows what we have watched. I tried redownloading and everything too

    • Hello Rachael, so when you go into the add-on (Exdous for example), select Movies then a movie category it’ll only show you what you have watched? Asking to make sure we’re on the same page.

  2. Yoooooooo ur the actual G man. Thanks so much for all the useful tips. You’ve made things so much easier so I respect you for that man ?? thanks soooo much!!!!!!!!!

  3. Everything was going smoothly until I got to the part where i clicked on the indigo icon after the indigo downloaded but it seems to be stuck at the initializing part….it just seems like it will never start loading, nothing is happening. I dont know what to do to get past this part.

  4. Hello, thank you for wonderful video, I was able to easily install kodi. However, when I am streaming, after some minutes, it just stops or screensaver comes on, please how can I resolve this?

    • Hello Minaibi, let try to clear up some unused data if you haven’t yet. From the homepage of Kodi go to Indigo, then Maintenance Tools, and select Enable Auto Maintenance on Startup. This removes data that builds over time and helps the buffering speed. You can select Run Auto Maintenance to clear everything at once manually.

    • Hello, thanks for your quick response. I already had it on ‘Enable Auto Maintenance on Startup’. However, I did ‘Run Auto Maintenance’ but it still stopped after some minutes….

    • Sorry you’re still having trouble. At this moment I don’t know of a prefect solution. I deal with this myself and I just close the stream then re open it. If it doesn’t correct itself I just try again later since the streams connection does change overtime.

    • Hello Natasha, whenever you get stuck just close Kodi completely so it’ll refresh and try again. Sometimes you’ll have to do it twice. You do this by using the exit option on the home page of Kodi. Or from the homepage of the Firestick by going to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Select Kodi and Force close. Also make sure you removed any extra downloaded files if any. This some times create problems. You do this by going to the ES Explorer app and go to Download under the Favorite option, then highlight and press and hold the extra downloaded files to delete it. It maybe hard to highlight at first but it’s possible.

    • It still isn’t working. Maybe my internet connection is not working correctly. I just keep getting stuck on the ‘starting up’ box for initializing Indigo.

    • You could also try closing Kodi then restart your internet connection then try again. This has worked for others.

  5. Thank you for all the great Videos and INFO!
What is your opinion on Infusion / Magic/ and Titanium builds?

  6. i followed step for step still not working im gonna delete and try again. when i click on kodi it takes me to category screen. i click on exodus and file is empty. i even try update and says no update available

    • It doesn’t show up under featured Addons. It shows up under Addon/Author. Then type in Exodus. It’ll come up under Exodus+Metadata

    • Here’s some other ways to get it: Go to Add-ons (from the homepage of Kodi) > Select the box icon on the top left corner > Install from Repository > All repositories > Video add-ons > Then find, select, and install Exodus or any other add-on you want. Or You can try refreshing the Indigo add-on. You do this by starting from the homepage of Kodi, go to Add-ons > My Add-ons > Video add-ons > select Indigo then follow the prompts to update it. If no updates are available, exit Kodi completely by using the exit option on the home page of Kodi so it can refresh Then try again. Let me know if you continue to have this problem.

  7. plugin.program.indigo 1.0.4.zip has changed to 2.0 and no longer allows the download of exodus any fixes?

    • I just had to look around a little. It’s there. It just wasn’t under “Featured Addons” I still took the -Indigo>AddOn Installer> then, instead of Featured Addons, I went to “search by: Addon/Author and typed in Exodus. Then its under “Exodus+Metadata. You can download that, then the Exodus Artwork.

  8. Awesome tutorial!  Everything went flawlessly until the download of the new version of kodi kept stopping and saying task failed. How do I get past this step so it can fully download!? Please help!

  9. Hi I love your site! I just updated my firestick, I wanted to know if you have any videos on how to update the dragon box to Kodi 17? Thank you.

    • I haven’t had the chance to use a FireTV as of yet, so I don’t know for sure. But I don’t see why not.

  10. thank you so much. i have tried so many and this of yours was the best.but i have only one question why cant i see anything .everytime i try to watch something or a sports game it says”openload steam authorization” to play movie authorization is required?

    • When we see messages like this we would’ve to try another stream. It just means the stream(s) isn’t valid. Which add-on(s) are you using?

    • DownloadingPirate just what you recommended I did it exactly like you did it on the video everything looks fine everything’s there it’s perfect it’s just some movies do play no sports comes on it just says there’s no stream available and some movies even older ones that I washed before you say no stream available
